Pickled Green figs

​

Ingredients


5 green figs
1 onion
2 limes
Black pepper to taste
Salt to taste (1 tbsp more or less)
1 cucumber



Method



 

1. Cut the greenfigs in half horizontally and cut the ends and place in a pan of boiling water until cooked.



2. Drain the water, and allow them to cool.



 

3. Peel each piece of greenfig and slice evenly.



4. Arrange in a heat proof dish and pour enough boiling water to cover the green figs.



 

5. Add the salt, onion, lime juice and black pepper to taste.



6. Allow to cool.



 

7. Cover the dish and refrigerate at least 12 hours.



8. Add cucumber slices and serve immediately.​
